Disciples Club: Mentorship and Martial Arts for At-Risk Youth
Disciples Club is a transformative program designed to support students at risk of disengaging from the traditional school system. These young individuals may face challenges such as lack of motivation, personal hardships, or a need for additional guidance in navigating their futures. Some require structured mentorship and life coaching, while others simply need a consistent, trusted presence to provide encouragement, counsel, and emotional support.
Under the leadership of Wainel Santiago, who brings over 40 years of experience in the boxing industry, the program utilizes a holistic approach that combines physical discipline with personal development. Beyond boxing and kickboxing, students receive individualized attention, counseling, and structured monitoring to ensure their growth—both in and out of the gym.
Disciples Club has helped students find the motivation to graduate through mentorship, extra academic guidance, and confidence-building exercises. One remarkable example is a student who overcame severe shyness by earning a black belt in kickboxing, an achievement that not only strengthened her physical ability but also empowered her to believe in herself.
By maintaining a close connection with parents and updating them regularly on their child’s well-being, Disciples fosters a stable support system that reinforces success beyond athletic training. Whether preparing students for higher education or direct entry into the workforce, the program instills resilience, discipline, and life skills that serve them well in all aspects of their futures.
